New Northam Lumen Study Hub to Boost Support for Regional Higher Education Students

Regional Development Australia Wheatbelt (RDA Wheatbelt) and Lumen are thrilled to announce the approval of the Northam Lumen Study Hub, set to open in mid-2025. This exciting development, funded under the Australian Government Regional University Study Hubs Program, will significantly enhance access to tertiary education for students in Northam and the broader Wheatbelt region.

The hub will provide university and VET students with a modern, well-equipped study environment. With free access to high-speed internet, study spaces and student support services, the hub will break down barriers faced by regional students, ensuring they have the same opportunities for success as their metropolitan peers.

Building on the success of Lumen’s existing study hubs in Merredin, Narrogin, Wongan Hills, and York, RDA Wheatbelt will oversee the establishment of the Northam hub. Through strong local and regional partnerships, Lumen has been instrumental in supporting students on their education journey, offering crucial guidance and resources to help them thrive.

The Shire of Northam has pledged financial support toward lease costs, reinforcing the hub as a long-term investment in the region’s education and workforce development. The hub will serve students from Northam and nearby communities, including, Cunderdin, Goomalling, and Toodyay.

By essential study and well-being support, the Northam Lumen Wheatbelt Study Hub will enable more students to pursue and complete their tertiary education close to home. This initiative marks another step forward in improving educational equity and ensuring regional students have the resources they need to achieve their academic and career ambitions.
