This competition is run by Lumen Wheatbelt Regional University Study Hubs (“Lumen”, “we”, “our”).

1. Competition Overview

The Lumen Wheatbelt Photo Competition invites community members to submit a photograph that reflects the theme:

“What does studying in the Wheatbelt look like?”

By entering, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.

2. Who can Enter

• Entry is open to residents or former residents of the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia;
• Entrants under 18 must have parent/guardian consent to enter the competition. Lumen may request a signed parent/guardian consent form;
• Lumen staff are not eligible to enter.

 

3. How to Enter

• Submit the competition entry form;
• Email your photograph to ;
• Only digital images will be accepted;
• Photographs must be submitted as JPEG (.jpg or .jpeg) files;
• Preferably at high resolution;
• The maximum file size is 10 MB;
• HEIC, PDF and other file formats will not be accepted;
• Entries must be received by the advertised closing date;
• Multiple entries are permitted.

4. Originality of Entries

• Entries must be original photographs taken by the entrant.
• AI-generated images are not permitted.
• Basic photo editing is permitted, including cropping, colour correction, exposure adjustments, sharpening and similar enhancements, provided the image remains an authentic representation of the original scene.
• Images that have been substantially altered using artificial intelligence or other digital tools to add, remove or replace people, objects or backgrounds are not permitted.
• Lumen Wheatbelt Study Hubs reserves the right to request the original image file or additional information to verify an entry.

 

5. The Prize

• First Prize winner will receive a gift voucher of $150.00 and Runner-up winner will receive a gift voucher of $100.00;
• The winners will be selected based on creativity, relevance to theme, and overall impact;
• This is a skill-based competition. Chance plays no part in determining the winner;
• The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

 

6. Copyright & Use of Images

• You retain copyright in your photograph;
• By entering, you grant Lumen Wheatbelt Study Hubs a perpetual, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to use your image for promotional and marketing purposes.

This includes (but is not limited to):

• Social media;
• Website;
• Printed materials (posters, brochures, flyers);
• Displays within Lumen Study Hubs;
• Annual reports;
• Media releases;
• Future promotional campaigns.

No further payment will be made beyond the competition prize.

Lumen may:

• Crop, resize, or adjust the image for formatting purposes;
• Add text or branding overlays;
• Use the image in print and digital formats.

Where reasonable, we will credit the photographer. However, you consent to the image being used without attribution if required.

7. Moral Rights

You consent to Lumen using the image in accordance with these Terms & Conditions, including reasonable editing or adaptation for promotional purposes.

8. People in Photographs

If your photograph includes identifiable people:

• You must have their permission to submit the image;
• If the person is under 18, you must have written consent from their parent or guardian;
• You may be asked to provide signed photo consent forms.

By entering, you confirm that you have obtained all necessary permissions.

9. Your Responsibilities

By submitting an entry, you confirm that:

• The photograph was taken by you and complies with Section 4 (Originality of Entries;
• You own the copyright;
• The image does not infringe on any third-party rights;
• The image does not contain confidential, private, or sensitive information;
• The image is not offensive, defamatory, discriminatory, or unlawful.

 

10. Privacy

Personal information collected for this competition will be used for:

• Administering the competition;
• Contacting the winner.

Lumen will handle personal information in accordance with applicable privacy laws.

11. Disqualification

Lumen reserves the right to:

• Disqualify any entry that does not comply with these Terms & Conditions;
• Remove inappropriate content;
• Cancel or modify the competition if necessary.

 

12. Liability

Lumen is not responsible for:

• Lost, late, or corrupted entries;
• Technical issues affecting submissions;
• Any claims arising from a breach of these Terms by an entrant.

Entrants agree to indemnify Lumen against any claims arising from their submitted image.
